10 reasons why you should never get a religion (The Rebuttal)

This article is a Rebuttal to Steve Pavlina's most controversial post

10 reasons why you should never get a religion.

First of all let me say that I think Steve is a great communicator. I might never be able to match his dexterity with words however, I will defend my faith so help me God. I speak for Christians and Christians only.

The Bible speaks of people Like Steve Pavlina so those of us who know our scriptures are not swayed by his narrow minded atheism. Steve, is nothing but a follower of a religion himself, he probably doesn't even know it. Atheism is a religion in its own right.

The bible warns us of people like Steve. In Mathew chapter 24:11 the Bible says " Many false prophets will rise up and deceive many."

Steve Pavlina, and other Atheists like him seem to believe that Christianity is based on Myth.

    pav1 - Steve Pavlina

There are hundreds if not thousands of historical examples that prove that Jesus And Moses And Abraham etc... really existed. Christianity today Can be backed up by historical facts and the bible is capable of holding it's own against any History book. Christianity is not based on myth. Check your facts Steve.

Clarity remains forever elusive, and the best answer you get is that life is one giant mystery.-Steve Pavlina.

I am a Christian and clarity is certainly not elusive to me, if anyone needs clarification here it is you. Life and the reason why we are here, are only elusive concepts to people who have nothing to believe in. Atheists. I am here because God put me here. And he put me here for a reason. To worship him.

Religions are authoritarian hierarchies designed to dominate your free will. They’re power structures that aim to convince you to give away your power for the benefit of those who enjoy dominating people. When you subscribe to a religion, you enrol in a mindless minion training program. Religions don’t market themselves as such, but this is essentially how they operate.-Steve Pavlina

Christianity is not communism, autocracy, or dictatorship as Steve will have us believe. I have been a Christian all my life and no one has tried to "dominate my free will" . As a Christian, free will is exactly what I have. I have freedom to choose to do the right. Freedom, not to conform to societal norms. Freedom and mental clarity is all that Christianity is about. True Christians are free from the chains of alcohol, drugs, fornication, adultery and all things that the world celebrates.

Church leaders also behave in direct violation of the Church’s teachings, such as by covering up criminal and immoral activities by their own priests. - Steve Pavlina

There are some shameful things that happen in the church, which is rather unfortunate. However, not all church leaders disobey the teachings of the bible, and not all priests are pedophiles. Steve, most cases of pedophilia happen outside of the church,  thanks to people like you the whole world seems to think that every priest is a pedophile. I will bet that 99.99% of the people who are in prison today for sex crimes against children are atheists like you. They are people who are lost and have nothing to believe in and no moral standard to subscribe to because the world has been overcome by smooth talkers (false prophets) like you who would have us believe there is no God. No wonder our prisons are overflowing with criminals.

First, there’s the idiocy route. You can willingly swallow all of the contrived, man-made drivel that’s fed to you. Accept that the earth is only 10,000 years old. Believe stories about dead bodies coming back to life. Learn about various deities and such. Put your trust in someone who thinks they know what they’re talking about. Eat your dogma. Good boy!-Pavlina

So who knows how old the earth really is? certainly not you Steve and definitely not science. Radio carbon dating of rocks is struggling to hold its own against new scientific methods. If you believe in all the man made drivel that has been fed to you by science you should actually concede (if you are as wise as you think you are) that there is a God. And science does not have all the answers. In fact science raises more questions than it answers.

How dare you! with your puny human mind try to comprehend what the Almighty God can do. Do you know what lies at the very bottom of the sea?  do you know what causes you to be conscious? Have you counted the stars in the universe? what is the smallest particle that quantum physics cannot find? what is inside a quark or a lepton? Have you asked yourself what was there before the Big bang? Of course not, you are an atheist you don't even know why you are here.

I could go on and on trying to refute your ridiculous rant. However, I also realise that this is an attempt by you to generate more traffic to your site. Well done. You got my attention.

If you want to stir up a bit of controversy why don't you try and find out the 10 reasons why Atheism and atheists like you are eroding the moral fabric of society.

I have nothing to loose in having faith in the teachings of Jesus and believing that there is a God. I am a better person because of it. To you it may seem like foolishness but then again what do you know? ...but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness.- 1 Cor 1:23.

    Amen!

    Alfred -

I enjoyed your rebuttal, as I am also Christian. Of course I don't agree with everything you've said, but I enjoyed reading it none the less.

My favorite line is "I am a Christian and clarity is certainly not elusive to me..."

It's weird to me how a number of popular self development bloggers are anti-God/Christianity/religion and use it as leverage to show their enlightenment. I guess it's all part of marketing - the majority of people believe in God and when you take a strong stance against it you get some press coverage. I feel like it's all a bit too much like teenage angst.

Anyway, good luck with all your projects and goals!

"There are hundreds if not thousands of historical examples that prove that Jesus And Moses And Abraham etc... really existed."

Um, not so much really. A few disputed attributions is about it for all but a few bit players--and none specify they did what was described in the bible only that they existed. But if their was proof they wouldn;t call it 'faith'.

That is true. We Christians don't need proof in order to believe, ours, unlike many other religions is a faith. We live by faith, and that gives us hope, the hope that Christ who was crucified rose again, the hope of glory.
