7 Things which will not survive the next two decades.

    1. The IPhone

      - Now before you run off and go cry foul on your own blog hear me out. Twenty years from now there will be no camera phones or music phones or portable PC's these devices will all be bundled into one fully functional multi-communicational entertainment device which will have all the strengths of the later devices but none of their weaknesses. And  for your information, the IPhone was not a revolutionary device. In terms of technology it brought nothing new to the table. in terms of design . Maybe.
    2. The Petrol/Diesel Car

. Within the next 20 years it will be so expensive to maintain and run a petrol/diesel car that only the most Hardened car enthusiasts will drive these cars. Have a look at this chart. In the UK within the last 7 years petrol prices have gone up more than 50% !. Push this chart forward another 20 years and factor in the dwindling natural resources and prices could shoot up over 500% in the next 20 years. Cars, as we know them will be history soon . Enjoy them whiles you can.

    3. Yahoo!Yawhat?

Yahoo is dying. Yahoo has been dying for the last 10 years. I'm surprised no one saw it coming. What do they do anyway? and what is it? maybe its some sort of web portal thingeygig, which will introduce you to the rest of the web then you never have to come back to them. Yahoo will eventually get swallowed up by some ignorant Private equity firm or some sort of financial institution which will try and turn it into a Bank or worse an off licence, fail, then sell it to the Chinese.
    4. Out the "Windows "

lets face it windows does not work properly. And even that is putting it mildly.Windows and especially Vista is shit. How can you create an operating system that cripples itself after every update? How can you justify an ideology that tells you what you can or cannot do with digital media stored on your  own computer? How can you allow a company to sell you  software, and then tell you, (in the fine print) that you don't actually own it? Microsoft holds the full rites to the operating system they sell to you. They can modify it or delete it from your PC if they wish. What happened to consumer right's? I guess it went out the window.
    5. The Church of England

      .

      Now before I proceed let me say that i have no hatred towards gay people. The bible tells us to love one another just as Christ loved the church. But the bible also clearly states in Leviticus chapter 18:22;

You shall not lie with a man , as with a woman, for this is an Abomination...

The Church of England is right to show love to gay people however, the bible frowns upon such relationships. Therefore it should not be encouraged. At least not in the church. The Bible is so clear about this. I am referring to the ordination of gay bishops in the church of England that has split the church into two and will eventually destroy the Church

    6.

    The standalone camera

This is a technology which has really come into its own within the last three decades However, thanks to advanced digital electronics it is now possible to squeeze a 5 mega pixel camera into a tiny mobile phone, making it unnecessary to have a dedicated camera.

    7.

    Britney Winehouse

20 years from now the Amy Winehouses and the Britney Spears's of our time will be the examples we use to correct our children when they become famous and it gets to their heads. Those two fantastic singers may not be around very long if they don't change. And you don't need a degree in Psychology to figure that one out. what is it with Pop stars and drugs anyway?

Fantastic post you've got there! Stumbled and dug!

However, I am willing to bet my (newly purchased) cooking oil that petrol car will still be around in the next few decades.

That was exactly what was predicted two decades back and petrol car production is still going strong. I think oil companies will not let those innovations that threaten their profits come into the market.

With their huge war chest, I wouldn't be surprise if they have been buying (and destroying) all prototypes that has been proven to replace those oil guzzlers thus far. :o

Eventually they will run out of oil. They should be investing their huge profits in finding alternative sources energy.

Don't underestimate the ability of the Church to survive. There may (probably will) be a schism over the issue of gay priests but my money is on another reformation rather than a collapse.
Organised religion just seems to persist, no matter what. Lets face it, Leviticus also prohibits bacon and you don't see the Anglicans getting all upset about it.

The church will survive. Its the church of England i have a problem with.To be precise, i have issues with the one in England and the US.

As an atheist, I have to disagree with your thoughts on churches vanishing because they do something against their lore -- happens all the time. But that's only an aside; what I really want to disagree with is your "standalone camera" -- maybe that will be right for consumer cameras (but even then technical change in the right groups is really slow), but it won't be right for serious amateurs and especially not for professionals. The optics for a high-level camera won't fit in a mobile phone (and that's not measured in megapixels). Just look at the number of pics taken with phone cams vs. digital SLR camers at, for example, flickr.com.

I don't know what planet you are from Till. Twenty years from now, on this planet, every feature found in a modern professional camera and more will be available in a number of devices some probably smaller than a mobile phone.
