Entrecard/Stumbleupon/Digg Traffic Blogs make little or no money.

Posted on Friday, April 18, 2008 at 10:24AM by Registered CommenterAlfred Opare Saforo | Comments3 Comments

I know this sounds like nonsense but hear me out.

First of all let me clarify a few things here. There are some Big blogs out there who make a fortune everyday. Those are not the ones I'm talking about.

The blogs I am referring to are the ones probably started by some obscure cat lover  in a corner of Vancouver , or some Enthusiastic Malaysian/Pinnoy blogger who is keen on proving to his friends he is making a million dollars online (when he really hasn't made a dime.).

I am referring to the new Blogger who started his blog 3 months ago and has littered it with Adsense code and widgets, hoping this alone will bring traffic. This is to the stay at home mom, who spends all day blogging about her blog.

Entrecard, Stumbleupon and Digg traffic is Addictive. Let me be honest at a point I was hopelessly addicted to SU (Stumbleupon) traffic, my day was not complete without a hit from SU. There I was all alone with my Bligblogblag, and the odd Hit every other day (15 visitors on a really good Day), no page rank and a huge Alexa ranking to shake off. Then suddenly 1000 hits a day! I was delirious with excitement. That first day I literally fell of my chair. I was Hooked.

SU /Entrecard/Digg Traffic is sophisticated.

Look at the type of people who use Entrecard. blogger's, blogger's and more blogger's. Digg is made up of Nerd's Nerd's and a heard of Geek's. SU users are 23-35 year old web-savvy socialite, divorcee who is in such a hurry they only have time to thumb up the odd funny picture.

Digg users are too Clever to click through an ad on your blog. Entrecarders will not look beyond your widget, clicking ads remains a mystery to them. Stumblers will hardly wait around for your page to load. They bounce of so fast, NASA recently commissioned some scientists to calculate their escape velocity (could come in handy when we need to leave Mars.)

The point I'm trying to make is, these guys don't hang around long enough to engage with your content.

Organic Traffic The Holy Grail of Blogging.

Search Engines are the key to Achieving real traffic. When someone does a search and comes to your website, that person is more likely to interact with your content and hopefully click through to an Ad.

Real subscribers are also good for quality traffic. Note I said "real". I don't like the type of subscribers you buy with Entrecard credits. They are again what I call sub-prime traffic, they just help Get your subscriber numbers up. They might never come to your blog again.

When all is said and done I will always say that Good content is King. There are too many Blogs about blogging and post's about blogging.

The Internet is choked with clueless blogger's trying to tell the world how they love blogging about blogging. Too many I can make you rich Blogs who never get rich themselves . How could they possibly  help you out of your poverty? This goes to all the Day Job Nuker's, and 1 million in one year blogger's out there.

Real money lies in organic traffic. No matter how good your numbers and your rankings are you will never make a penny when you put your content before the wrong Audience.

Amen.

Probably the Hardest Way to Make Money Online

Hello, Entrecard Chain Dropper. You need Help.

Posted on Friday, February 8, 2008 at 08:58AM by Registered CommenterAlfred Opare Saforo | Comments12 Comments

The Entrecard phenomenon that is sweeping through the Blogosphere isn't all Good. The concept in itself is brilliant however the implementation is flawed.

In the real world How would you feel if the same company kept leaving their business card in your letter box? you would call it spam.

The problem with Entrecard chaindropppers is that although they are continuously visiting your site and dropping their cards on you, 95% of them will never stop and read an article or click through  a link or participate in anything that is happening on your blog.

They have one thing in mind drop as many cards as they can to collect as many points as they can, and then buy some advertising space from another Entrecard blog.

Indeed some of these chain droppers are so addicted they spend hours a day chain dropping instead of thinking of ways to improve the content on their blogs . Or read other blogs for that matter. Today its easy to find several highly rated Entrecard Blogs with Zero to rubbish content. These individuals actually find it easier to go around dropping their cards all day rather than sit down and think of something creative or unique to say.

I drop several cards a day myself. The difference is I have learnt to find my natural rhythm on Entrecard. I know spending several hours a day dropping cards is as futile as planting corn in Iceland. It is unsustainable unprofessional behaviour which will eventually stop. As more blogger's begin to realise that some blogger's only get traffic from chain dropping and have no other external sources of traffic. Thanks to Entrecard there are some blogs which otherwise would have died in obscurity.

I am now very wary of where I spend my Entrecard credits because I have realised some of the top blogs on Entrecard are only popular on Entrecard because they chaindrop. I check Alexa ranking and page rank first.

Blogger's Entrecarders and Stumblers, lend me your ears. I predict that in the next 12 months the price of advertising on Entrecard will drop significantly as more and more chaindropppers remember  who they are. They are blogger's and that's what they should be doing not chain dropping.

Investigating The Cloak and Dagger world of Affiliate Marketing.

Posted on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at 11:46AM by Registered CommenterAlfred Opare Saforo | CommentsPost a Comment

WARNING! AT THE END OF THIS ARTICLE YOU WILL KNOW WHICH AFFILIATE PROGRAM REALLY WORKS.

I have been fascinated by the world of affiliate marketing. Its obvious that there is certainly some money to be made. The only problem is no one will actually show you how, unless you buy their eBook or buy some super report or one thing or the other. For the past few days I have ben patiently researching Affiliate marketing and I have learnt some interesting facts.

  • Affiliates never share their information for free.
  • They will never really tell you how exactly it is they make their money no matter how hard you probe. They will say I made $100,000 in 10 days  but they will never tell you what sort of products they promoted, who they targeted. The Real facts that you need to make the money you have to learn the hard way.
  • You could be stabbing around in the dark for years and never make any headway.
  • They will never tell you how much time or money they invested. And I can assure you its an awful lot of time and money.

We have all come across those annoying one page affiliate marketing sites that have no depth and no soul.

Many of the owners of these sites  boast about how many people bought their useless products. I repeatedly found:

  1. Outdated Information
  2. No real support
  3. Products. (Many of them didn't even have any real products, they just wanted you to recruit new people into the business)
  4. Links that were supposed to give me all kinds of info turned out to be dead and sent me nowhere
  5. There weren't any real opportunities to achieve a full-time income right away
  6. Zero Customer Service, once you part with your money your left hanging out to dry all by yourself
  7. A lack of any detailed information, all generalities, no specifics.

After days of reading and coming across many dead ends I finally found  some real substance. I found a website that actually puts a human face  on affiliate marketing and after comparing it to the other Affiliate programs out there I realised that this company  came out tops. Let me give you one example of why I think they are brilliant. They will never accept you into their program until they have spoken to you on the phone.

Now it doesn't get any better than that.

  1. They will call you and speak to you about how you intend to market their products.
  2. They are very friendly and very helpful.
  3. The website is simple and straight forward to use. Join their program and I assure you it wont belong until you also start making serious money. ( Ask me how much I make a day)Then we will see if you will be prepared to share your info like I have shared with you.
  4. Don't waste time go forward and start Making some money for yourself you know you need it.

*warning! HARD WORK REQUIRED.

Affiliate marketing was never meant to be difficult.

True Viral Marketing

How to have sex with your Blog.

Posted on Monday, January 21, 2008 at 09:46AM by Registered CommenterAlfred Opare Saforo | Comments1 Comment

Of course, its not what you're thinking. No you can't physically have sex with your blog,at least not yet, and certainly not today.

However, to maintain the relevancy of my chosen headline and to prevent my post being buried alive in the archives of Digg or in the Bowels of Stumbleupon I will proceed to explain to you how you can have sex with your blog (God Help Me).

What I should really be saying is "How to Sex Up your Blog", as you can see I Sexed Up the title a bit to get your attention. And it worked why? because you are reading this. So how do you sex up your Blog?

The whole process can be simplified thus;

  1. Always choose a great publishing platform

    - You see Publishing platforms like, Wordpress, Blogger or square space are a bit like a wife/girlfriend once you choose one you're pretty much stuck with them for life. A divorce/breakup is an expensive enterprise. Choose with care here is a list of seven the Best platforms starting from the best.
      1. Squarespace
      2. Wordpress
      3. Serendipity
      4. Moveabletype
      5. b2evolution
      6. Typo
      7. Mephisto
  2.

    Keep it Simple,Relevant and Focused

    - Write original content. Be yourself and let your unique personality shine through your blog .If you can't write it yourself get someone else cleverer than you to write it for you, if you need some inspiration , try reading some other great Blogs I recommend,

    1. Walyou

    2. Jonathanfields

    3. Avivadirectory

    4. Squidoo

    5. Problogger
    6. Jimkukral
    7. Alvinpoh

and always remember to leave Meaningful comments for other Bloggers, so that you can drop a free Link to their site. This will help to build your own sites Popularity.

3.

Social Book marking is your key to going Viral

- Be your own promoter. if you write your own story and you have all the Digg this and stumble this buttons available, don't sit there waiting for someone to bookmark you. Be the first to submit your article, If you don't have a high traffic site God knows how long it will take you before some kind passerby decides to Digg your incredible post. Every article on your blog is a potential Moneymaker and traffic grabber, so market every article like crazy. If possible do a search for similar topics and post at least drop a comment with your link of course. This increases your popularity, gives you back inks, and it will give your blog enormous exposure.

4.

Don't do it for the money ,do it for love.

If you come to blogging with the intention of making an easy income, you might be very disappointed. For every successful blog there are 10 dead blogs. The result of unrealistic expectations and poor quality blogging. What people don't understand is, why would some one want to come around and read your spammy blog, with bits of Adsense code randomly littering the pages? People are not stupid and they know quality when they see it. When you blog for love the money will follow. eventually.

Blogging is certainly not as good as sex. And dude you can't have sex with your blog. Sorry.

Am I benefiting from Entrecard?

Posted on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 12:36PM by Registered CommenterAlfred Opare Saforo | CommentsPost a Comment

Alfered saforo journal125x125

I have been on Entrecard for 5days now. And I'm beginning to ask myself is it worth the effort?

  • Entrecard has brought me 105 visitors that is an average of 21 visits a day. Its not very impressive I know
  • I have managed to buy 2 Ads on other blogs in the network which have also contributed to 12 visits to my traffic
  • My blog on the other hand has sent 25 visitors to other sites
  • It costs 21 credits to advertise on my Blog

What I've learnt from Entrecard

    • I've learnt that for anyone to take you seriously on Entrecard you need to have a nice catchy 125 x 125 add. Like the one I have above. So I rushed of to Logosamurai.com and I had them make me a nice professional looking logo.
    • advertising on Blogs is going to get increasingly more expensive as more blogger's join the network in droves. The upside of that is more people are going to be going round dropping cards, and immediately head off using the Entrecard widget as an exit point to the next Entrecard blog. In the light of this...
    • I realised that placing as many ads on as many Blogs as possible would dramatically increase my Blogs visibility on the network within the next 6 months
    • I also realised I have only 40 credits on my account
    • So I have thought up a saving plan. Hoard All my credits for at least 1month until I'm capable of buying Adspace on some highly visible Blogs. Not very clever I know. But it will work .
    • Entrecard is being used already as a currency on Blogs, yes you can actually buy all sorts of widgets and gizmos using your Ecard credits,

Now to answer the question Am I benefiting from Entrecard? Yes I am. You see in the Blogosphere no traffic is bad traffic. 21 hits from Entrecard a day may seem negligible at the moment but remember I've only been around for 5 days, and Entrecard has brought me more hits than other similar websites in its class like mybloglog.  I believe Entrecard has the potential (when used properly) to increase your subscribers and your traffic in the long term. Its worth staying the course.

6months down the line I'll post a follow up to this article,to let you know how far I've got in this adventure. Now please  let me go I have some cards to drop.
